Realistic fiction about broken families and trying to move on Lizzie is experiencing the change in a new environment when she moved in to live with her step dad and his sons She didn’t say anything for the longest time until she met someone Someone who does not just open Lizzie’s mouth but opens her heart too

A short sparky novel from our mega selling star author Jacueline Wilson Lizzie has zipped up her mouth She's to. Jacueline Wilson was one of my favourite authors as a child One of the reasons I remember liking her books so much was because she tackled grown up issues about the trials and trepidations of becoming a teenager as well as the worries and mixture of hormonal feelings we all remember going through I remember reading her books and never wanting to put them down not only did they look good with their bright coloured covers and amusing pictures they transported me into this grown ups world The story Lizzie Zipmouth is one of the shorter Wilson books I have read the story tackles the issue of becoming a step family and the feelings that Lizzie feels as she gives up the familiar world she lives in to move in with her mother s partner and his children The story is well written and an extremely easy read I feel the nature of the book means that it is suitable for slighter younger children than some of her other books so I feel a recommend age of 7 9 years is appropriate

Tally fed up at having to join a new family and nothing can coax her into speaking to them Not football not piz. I remember reading Jacueline Wilson books when I was younger and loving them for the way they related to everyday life and issues in a really child friendly way The book is all about a young girl that keeps having to join new families and meet new people as her mum gets a new partner She becomes so fed up that she refuses to talk to anyone and no matter how nice people are to her she still doesn t talk until she meets her new great gran The story continues with Lizzie s friendship with her great gran blossoming through their shared love for dolls up to the point where she feels able to talk properly again to all her new family and her mum Lizzie s great gran is then taken into hospital after suffering from a stroke and it falls down to Lizzie to help her get her voice back and start enjoying life again It is a very heart warming story which I think a lot of children can relate to as it focuses on changes in the family and everyday issues whilst growing upThe language used within the book is clear and concise with harder words being explained Illustrations throughout the book are helpful to emphasize main points in the story and for younger children reading it who may struggle with harder wordsJacueline Wilson has a way of writing that is comfortable and encouraging whilst addressing needs that children are facing as they grow up
