Ld’ve killed her Sophie Kandinsky has spent the last six years trying to keep her crazy family life secret The devil is in the details The first detail is her larger than life eccentric Bulgarian mother The slightly larger detail is the fact that her gentle poet father has been charged with murder All Sophie wants is to be adored and invincible which is really hard once people find out her I got this book about 8 years ago My middle school library was giving it away and I think I took it because it had a white pine selection sticker on it I never really read it because I was never in the mood for it The synopsis never made too much sense to me and eventually I forgot the book was even on my shelf I was reorganizing my shelf over Christmas and came across this book again I decided to bring it to university with me and read it So that s exactly what I did I will say the reading level is definitely advanced middle school makes sense why my primarily ghetto middle school was giving it away however I don t think the content is middle school appropriate necessarily I am in a sense glad I waited so long to read it Despite it s rather easy reading level at this point in my life it was a nice break from all the textbooks I ve been reading It was also nice because it takes place in Toronto and although it takes place about 30 years ago a lot of the places mentioned were relatable to me including the high school Sophia attends Overall great read The first few chapters get confusing but keep reading there s meaning behind everything I definitely recommend it

“How did your poor husband pass away” Make it simple Mama I tried to bore into her simple simple “His brains exploded”  I heard a gasp It was me “An aneurysm” “Okay” said Mama  “I’m sorry hon” said Mrs Haver “At least it was fast”  “It vas” Mama looked puzzled I nodded furiously at her “Ya It vas Yours” “Heart attack” “Oooo dat’s good too” I cou Me and the Blondes is an entertaining fun novel to read by Teresa Toten published in 2006 I liked the length of the book and I liked how every chapter had an event or something important going on This book reminds me of the film Mean Girls because they both have a similar plot new girl comes to a new school and gets involved with the popular girls If you re looking for a simple and relaxing read I would definitely recommend it The characters in this novel are all very uniue and made the novel fun to read They all had very different personalities and all played important parts in the novel I liked how the main character Sophie fit in with the popular girls at her new school I also liked how they included her and Sophie got comfortable with sharing her secret Madison s personality reflected how she acted She was a pretty popular girl but she was nice Most of these kinds of girls are not so this made Madison uniue For example in the novel she includes Sophie into the group Most girls like her wouldn t Sophia s mother is also very different than your regular mother She is Bulgarian and she had to raise her daughter alone most of her life This book shows a lot of empathy Sophie cares so much about helping out her friends even when she s struggling herself For example she helped Madison with her family problems and really risked herself and almost got in a lot of trouble but knew that it was worth it for a friend Madison also shows empathy when she is willing to include the new girl into her group of friends When I first started reading this novel my prediction was that Sophia would have a hard time fitting in and Madison s group would be the people treating her poorly This novel portrays a good message and anyone looking for a good read should definitely consider reading Me and the Blondes I would rate the book a 810

Hands down one of the best books I've ever read Every 10 12 year old girl should read this book In addition the great story surrounding the main character and her desire to fit in with the popular girls who doesn't want that what really stands out are the supporting aunties in the book Just make sure to read their characters with an Eastern European accent in your head
