    This series gets darker and the tension in the master story thread builds There is a slight depressing effect from reading this series in a compressed way but not so as I would want not to read them The characters and world are so three dimensional and convincing and the stories overall so expertly constructed My only gripe aside from the persistent theme of kids kids all the mistreated malfunctioning kids in jeopardy
